About the Producer Kurt Mueller, the Managing Member of Speaking Volumes LLC, is a native of Chicago, Illinois, and a graduate from Southern Illinois University. He began his career in the entertainment and publishing business in Dallas, Texas as a salesman for a video distribution company in 1983. After a year of success, Mr. Mueller started his own video distribution company that he later sold to the Venture Group in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In conjunction with the buyout, Mr. Mueller moved to Santa Fe where he met his wife Erica. As Vice President of Marketing and Sales for the Venture Group, Mr. Mueller initiated and provided the impetus for the following three programs: the first ever audio book rental program for video stores, the first audio book lease program for video stores and the first ever audio book lease program for cruise lines, resort hotels and hospitals. After leaving the Venture Group in 1988, Mr. Mueller started Sunset Productions Inc., an independent audio book publishing company. As Producer and President of Sunset Productions Inc., Mr. Mueller produced and released hundreds of audiobooks from John Jakes to Lawrence Sanders. After ten years of success in the audio book publishing business, Mr. Mueller relinquished all of his duties and responsibilities at Sunset Productions Inc., and entered early retirement due to an automobile accident. Since that time, Mr. Mueller has worked part time in the publishing business producing audiobooks for Audio USA and as editor of The Valley News a local newspaper publishing company.
